Hello Everyone, Sunshine is in the air! Want to know why? The Utah basketball team brought it back from the sunny state of California! What basketball team? You might ask. Not just one team but three teams! Utah Glaciers (men's), Utah and Utah Rapids (women's)! All three teams enjoyed several days of sun and basketball fun! Utah Glaciers won their first game, beating North Shore, 77-66. It was a hard fought win and the men worked well together for the win. Utah Glacier's 2nd game was against Indianapolis who was #1 seed and last year's National Champs. Utah fought hard against a team of young talented players losing 95-61. In their third lost of the tournament against Florida State, 84-63, Utah continued to show their strengths and gave Florida great competition! Last but not least, Utah Glaciers lost their 4th game to Chicago (WSAD Orange), 74-54 and got 8th place. We are proud of the men's team for working so hard and definitely not giving up! Women’s teams: Utah women came out on fire and won their first game beating New Jersey, 60-46! Utah played well from start to finish and surprised many spectators. Feeling great from their first win, Utah plowed into their 2nd game beating Austin, 76-56 and earning a spot in the Championship round! Utah was stoked to be a part championship game for the first time in UACD’s history. Utah lost to Arizona by only 13 points! It was a hard fought game and they placed 2nd place! Laura Edwards from the Arizona team said, "We have a lot of respect for the Utah team." Utah Eagles lost to Arizona, 61-10 and Providence 66-20. They took 7th place. We all commend them on being a part of the tournament and helping with the competition! Abby Moose and Shari Bailey from the Utah women's team received 1st Team All Star awards. Abby was also awarded with the most points in three games with a toal of 70 points. She also scored the most 3 pointers with a total of 11 for the tournament. Great job ladies! Thanks!
